Analysis of financial soundness indicators for the Iraqi banking sector for the period (2009-2022)

Abstract

The research aimed to analyze the reality of the financial safety indicators of the Iraqi banking sector during the period 2009-2022 using annual data on safety indicators using the inductive and deductive approach to reach the true position of the banking institution’s ability to withstand banking risks. The study concluded that the Iraqi banking sector possesses high percentages of liquidity. Cash reserves exceed standard ratios, which indicates the weakness of the investment plan and the banks’ fear of entering into investment opportunities of uncertain profitability.
